My apologies to all the teams who have requested practice times...we are unable to fulfill requests at this point because of the ice conditions forcing us to reschedule games for the following two Fridays.  I will make a deal however.... if there is going to be no rink maintenance done overnight on the rink, and the rink is in condition to be on, you will be notified that the rink is available to practice on, however, be warned if any damage gets done to the rink, that privledge will be revoked.  As a side note, the broomball committee met for the first time tonight and have already handed out three suspensions for throwing punches, broom slashing, and scuffles. Please let your players know that the referees and the committee are serious in enforcing the rules this year.  Also, keep your eyes out for cancellations of tomorrows games if needed.

The Rink Manager has informed me the rink is still in poor condition for this evenings games. Therefore, tonights games will be cancelled as well.  The make up games will be posted by 7pm this evening for both sets of cancellations.

For the young man who called and left me a message without leaving his name, and for the rest of you, the reason broomball was cancelled this evening was the following:

It was NOT because it was snowing, please, give the rink manager and myself some credit, we know the weather is going to be snowing here 75% of the time.

However, the ice (which is non-existant right now underneath the layer of snow on the rink) would be completely ruined beyond repair if we let the games continue after the last two days of temperatures into the high 30s and low 40s. If we allowed people to play, then everyone would be complaining about either how bumpy the ice was or how there was no ice at a later date in the season. It happens every year, and I have determined there is nothing that will be done to make every single one of you happy.

All games are being made up at this point, and I personally have no issues postponing games if there is no ice, since having no ice last year is what caused problems with the rough play and the potential NOT to have broomball this year. I do not think many of the players realize how close they were to losing broomball altogether, and if you have any doubts, feel free to contact me and I can show you the minutes from last spring's meetings.

Also, if you feel the necessity to call me at my room, and complain about the decisions that have been made, please at least have the guts to leave a name and phone number so I do not have to leave messages like this to the entire list of captains who already think they get too much mail from me as it now happens.

I apologize to all the captains and players on this list who do not need to hear this from me, but are forced to hear it because someone felt the need to complain anonymously to me about the decisions (joint decisions) that were made regarding the playing conditions and the rink.

Thank you for your time.

Uh-oh.  Canada has just won a game....legitimately. Are we off of probation now?  Our intensity was up, our attire was tasteful and we played the cleanest game in MTU history.

Just so that you know, Bryan will be out of town this weekend, so you should contact me with any questions or problems.

Just a reminder to Wads captains that all stats from any games completed by the end of the night are due by midnight tommorrow if you want them posted on the Web page. Email any stats that you want posted to

me(magwizda).  Mark

If you want your stats on the women's page email them to me. I need them each Sunday by midnight for any games played through that Saturday. So any games completed by the end of the night I need stats by midnight tommorrow. This week I'll make an exception for you since I forgot that Tim is doing both Wads and Women's pages for us. Turn them into me by next Sunday. Just a reminder the page can be found at  www.broomball.freeservers.com.

Listen up everybody,   Effective tonight:

Any physical contact with a referee that is deemed offensive will result in the player in question being called before the IRHC Broomball Committee, at which time the player may face a suspension of three (3) or more games as the committee sees fit.

Just thought you should know.

What the heck happened to all the balls in the bags? If my memory serves me, MHA bought 6 balls before the broomball season begin (meaning we had 6 balls as of 12 days ago) and we now have 1? only 1 of the four bags that i've seen go out (including mine) didn't have a ball. What's the deal?

Thanks,

Jeff

Our midseason broomball forum will be held on Thursday, January 27th, at 8:00 in Fisher 138. Anyone with questions, comments, or concerns regarding broomball should attend. If you cannot attend, but you have an issue that you think should be brought up, please e-mail me (NOT the list).

1. Games can be rescheduled for two reasons. If your refs don't show up, you can reschedule or, if there are extenuating circumstances, such as a medical emergency of a player, you can reschedule your game. To reschedule, contact your league head AS SOON AS YOU FORFEIT OR CANCEL THE GAME.

2. If you want to get ice time to practice, you should e-mail bchelmin@mtu.edu . At this point, it is very unlikely that you will be given ice time at all, because we have had to reschedule so many games into rink maintenance times, but if you can get it at all, he'd be the one to tell you when.

If you have any other questions, let me know.

Thanks, Marjorie
